Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children is a revolutionary sexual abuse prevention training program that educates adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The program believes and teaches that child safety is an adult's job.

This 3-hour training program that integrates the simple principles of choice, consciousness, and personal power to promote an understanding of the nature and impact of child sexual abuse, and that uses those principles to provide a context for empowered action. The curriculum is direct about holding each adult accountable, and generous in providing powerful, specific support for personal change.

Stewards of Children is designed for organizations that serve children and youth, parents and other caring adults in the community. In Aiken, trainings have been held at several churches, with parent groups, teachers and health and human service organizations.

The workshops are co-facilitated by Peggy Ford with Children's Place and Susan Meehan with Aiken Youth Empowerment. They have co-facilitated these workshops in Aiken for 4-years and are very passionate about raising our community's awareness and willingness to take action -as professionals, parents and community members - to prevent child sexual abuse.

Although there is no cost for the training, there is $10 per person fee to cover the cost of the training manual. Scholarships are available upon request.
