Why Donate? Why Us?
This has been a rough year for our organization and 2011 will be even more challenging. Back in July, due to state budget cuts, we lost a $75,000 grant. To date, we have not been able to find another funder to 'fill the gap' for the loss of this funding. We have been able to manage through the end of this year without cutting services/programs. However, without additional funds, something will have to be cut. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated and professional staff. With only 3 full time and 2 part-time staff, we have always been able to do so much with so little. The thought of possibly loosing very qualified personnel is disheartening not only for our organization, but for the youth in our community whose lives have been positively impacted through their programs.
In 2009, our organization educated over 200 young people through the Real Talk for Youth/Girls Circle Program, provided individual educational counseling to approximately 500 young people through Positive Outcomes Program at the Aiken County Health Department, trained another 180 adults in Stewards of Children, a child sexual abuse prevention workshop, and distributed 150 Real Care infant simulators to youth in Aiken through the schools and other youth serving programs.
