In July 2010, state budget cuts forced the Department of Social Services to eliminate the CAPP grant (Community Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention). This resulted in a $75,000 cut to our organization. To date, we have not been able to find another funding source to 'fill the gap' for the loss of this funding. We were able to manage through the end of 2010 year without cutting services/programs. However, in 2011, without additional funds, some of our programs and staff will have to be cut.

We are so fortunate to have such dedicated and professional staff. With only 3 full-time and 2 part-time staff, we have always been able to do so much with so little. The thought of possibly loosing highly qualified staff is disheartening not only for our organization, but for the youth in our community whose lives have been positively impacted through their programs.

What Can I Do To Help?

How Can I Help Prevent Teen Pregnancy?

We understand that times are tough and everyone is cutting back, but it is important to remember that investing in teen pregnancy prevention is an investment in our community resulting in fewer dropouts, less crime, less child abuse and neglect and more youth growing up to be productive members of our community. Help prevent teen pregnancy through a donation or by volunteering today.

Give to the United Way.
The United Way of Aiken funds local agencies in Aiken County. Our organization is a proud United Way Agency. In 2011, we will be counting on the United Way to help us through our budget crisis. With your support we will be able to continue the high quality youth development and prevention programs in our community.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP
We are also looking for community members who enjoy entertaining, hosting home shows or organizing workplace events to consider:

* Hosting a special dinner, such as wine tasting, golfing, knitting or scrap-booking benefiting our organization.

* Host a home show - Pampered Chef, Southern Living, Premier Jewelry etc. as a fundraiser.

* Arranging a special work lunch benefiting our organization.
